As another school year fast approaches, I am curious to see how this generation of students will live up to expectations. It's been a long time, much too long, since the great house of Slytherin has won the House Cup. I feel it deep in my bones (or at least I would if I still had bones) that this is our year. These students, with these prefects, and led by this staff... they have what it takes to win! However, if this year, like so many before it, leads to disappointment, it hardly matters. After all, I only have another hundred years or thousand years in which to inspire new students to embrace their Slytherin pride.

November 30 It’s a very sad day to be a Slytherin. Spent all evening helping our wonderful staff direct the house elves in the decorating of the common room and tree. They all worked so hard, and I felt so proud to be a part of it. We finished shortly before midnight. I was about to retire to the potions corridor for some much needed clanking and wailing when I was interrupted by the Grey Lady. She told me how that damn nuisance, Peeves was wreaking havoc in the Great Hall, smashing up the staff table, so I left to go and sort him out. Took forever to get him back under control. I think Prof. Sully was glad to see me. When I returned to the Dungeons, I found that someone very nasty had stolen the tree and wrecked all our hard work. When I find out who ruined our Slythmas, we will have a new house ghost to keep me company.
