Considering their long rivalry, it's hard to believe that Basil and Brabas would work together. It's possible that stealing the gems came up in a random discussion though. I agree that the gem-napper would need an accomplice or two. The gems are kept in a prominent area. As we're nearing the end of the school year, the hourglasses would be quite full too. Jewels are heavy!

The Slytherin trial of the century is underway, pitting Basilisk against Lethifold. It it still unclear what the motive of either potential culprit might be, but both Basil and Brabas have gained more than a handful of loyal supporters.
- Which Slytherin house pet do you believe is innocent? Are you willing to provide an alibi?
- If you haven't already done so, make your way down to the courtroom. You don't want to miss a single second of this important trial!
- Inspired by the outfits seen during jury selection, HOL'ers have been shedding their school robes for more professional attire. Everyone is looking quite spiffy!
- All sorts of theories and rumors are already flying around the Jury Room. Why don't you weigh in with your thoughts?
The seats in the courtroom are filling up quickly! Be sure to get comfortable before the witnesses are called and the evidence is presented.

Keep in mind that Basil is a snake and snakes shed their skin. It is highly possible that all these "Basil" sightings are only discarded snake skin!

I was on my way back from a quick trip to Hogsmeade (ran out of red quills to mark assignments!) about the time the gems were stolen. There was a storm brewing, so I was hurrying back to avoid being caught in a downpour. I wasn't surprised to see Brabas hanging out in the courtyard. The high humidity and thunderstorms remind him of his native tropics. He briefly acknowledged me, then floated along, probably looking for a snack.

It's so hard to believe that we've reached the end of Harry Potter Read-Along here in the Dungeons!
I have to admit that I was hesitant when BJ Johnson first suggested doing a read-along. Credit to Maxwell Shadow for making it happen and February Fortescue for trying out different versions of trivia. Thanks to all members of Slytherin staff who have helped out with Read-Along planning, including Arianna Stonewater and Prof. Amy Lupin.
And a huge thank you to everyone who has participated in our Read-Along over the years. I loved reading all your thoughts and seeing scenes from the books through different eyes.
Finally, here is a fun Sporcle quiz to wrap everything up! See if you can name the characters who appear in all seven books!

I think people were hoping to see some new names rather than ones we've seen in all the books. Although it makes sense for people to name their children after those who have influenced them, I was a little surprised that Ginny would agree to those names. As the youngest of seven, I'd imagine that allowing her own children to forge their on identities would be at the top of the list. She also seemed like someone who would get creative with names, since she rarely went by her actual given name.

I agree that King's Cross is a fixed point in both the Muggle and magical worlds for Harry. There are always many other alternate routes available from a train station, so it was important that Harry always chose to get on/off the Hogwarts Express.
I think I've experienced several different "crossroads" type of situations. I actually wouldn't mind a train station... An airport might be a little too hectic for me. Though I have a feeling my limbo would most likely be some type of hospital. I can just imagine being stuck in a hospital elevator while I'm trying to figure out where I want to go.

Why do you think Harry's "limbo" manifested as King's Cross? What do you think yours might be?

"Hallows, not Horcruxes."
Is devoting one's life to the quest for the Deathly Hallows as bad as creating Horcruxes?
