  1. "How simple it would be really to kill you, and yet remain utterly unsuspected."
  2. Last week's venture was useful, though boring for the most part. The student was trying to sneak into the library to read some restricted material. Here's what I've gathered from watching that: -Most of the books are charmed to alert someone if opened -The ones that aren't charmed are in foreign languages -The person I was watching is very inattentive Truly, I wasn't even hiding from this kid, I was just standing there. They really need to get better at sneaking around. After they inevitably got caught by a teacher, who didn't catch me only because I had made my way to the other end of the library, I managed to snag a book for myself. It's one of the ones that isn't charmed, so I'll have to figure out what language it's written in and work from there. It might take a while, but it's something entertaining, at least! Going to sleep with magic all around is really hard. While it doesn't seem too difficult at first, it really takes a toll. It's like I can hear every little buzz that the spells make, and nothing's every fully quiet. I can't say it's pleasant. Even though sleep is hard, the waking hours are more interesting with magic at hand. It was far more bothersome back in Diagon Alley because I wasn't even able to make use of the magic around me, but here? It's like a free for all! I can cast any spell that I'm physically able to without fear of punishment! As long as I don't use them on others, that is.. but that isn't the point, though it's a shame that I can't practice the most practical spells yet. If only I had some sort of testing dummy... One of my friends keeps managing to sneak into the common room. She is decidedly not a Slytherin. I would love to know how she keeps getting in, but I doubt she'll tell me. Like a magician, that one. Still, if I keep an eye out I'm sure to catch her on her way in eventually. My other friends just keep trying to break down the door. I'm just glad that they haven't hurt themselves. Still, I don't know how many times the human body can be used as a battering ram before it suffers some sort of damage. It wouldn't be a very ethical experiment, but I suppose I can just sit back and watch to get my answer. The food that they serve here is really bland. I don't even know how they do it! We can use magic, can't we? So why is everything so tasteless? It's the same pumpkin juice every day, and I'm starting to think they have a grudge against all the other fruits! Really, people talk about Hogwarts' "feasts" all the time, but I just don't get it. My brother agrees, but everyone I talk to at Slytherin table thinks it's great! Maybe it's my taste buds that are the problem, though, if so many people think it's good. That's enough for today, I think. Nothing interesting has really happened, so I'll just be waiting until something does, I guess. Maybe I can pass the time with this translation..
