February 2021 Game Challenge: Snow Bros: Nick and Tom

Recommended Posts

Looking outside my window, I  see a lot of snow outside on the ground.  So it's time to move from robots to snowmen in the underrated classic game... Snow Bros: Nick and Tom!

Snow Bros: Nick and Tom was made by Toaplan in 1990 for arcade use.  If you played Bubble Bobble with the Arcade Club in late 2018, you will likely find the gameplay very familiar, but somehow colder and more challenging.  You play as one of two snowmen (Nick or Tom); your ultimate goal is to rescue the captured princesses Puripuri and Puchipuchi.  But before you have a chance to do this, you need to defeat the enemies on each stage... with snow!  If you shoot enough snow at an enemy you can trap it in a snowball; give the snowball a shove and the enemy will be defeated (if you're lucky, the snowball may roll over another enemy or two as well).  But if you don't get there fast enough, the enemy can burst free from the snowball (or another enemy can use fiery breath to free the first enemy).  But if you defeat all of the enemies on a floor, you move onto the next floor!

For controls, you move around with the arrow keys.  The 'X' button will let you jump; the 'Z' button is used to launch snow towards an enemy.   And to start up the game in the first place?   Click on the large "RUN GAME" button, and then press the "Enter" key twice!

For this month's challenge, you want to go to THIS LINK to play Snow Bros: Nick and Tom.  Screencap your best performance (and post it in this thread) by February 28 at 11:59 PM HOL!

-Participation at all will earn you 5 scales.

-If you score 2021 points or higher - or clear the first level ("Floor 1"),  your screencap will earn you 10 scales instead of 5.

-The top three scores of the month will get extra scales (25, 20, and 15 respectively for the month instead of 5 or 10) as well as special awards!

PS:  Feel free to edit your post throughout the month as you improve your score!
