June 2020 Challenge: Pipe Dream

Recommended Posts

Just like last year, we'll finish this school year by playing a game that - strictly speaking - is not an arcade game... but it is a fun classic action puzzle game nonetheless!  And this will also be a game that makes us all thankful that we can use magic and don't have to deal with things like Muggle plumbing!  That's right, we'll be laying down pipes in the Windows version of a 1988 game known as Pipe Dream!

In this game, you control a sequence of pipes that you can place on a square grid.  After some time, green liquid known as either "Flooz" or "Goo" will emerge from the starting point and travel down your network.  If your network is long enough, you will advance to the next level!  But if not, it's GAME OVER for you.  There are bonuses (if you get the green stuff to cross itself) and penalties (e.g. for unused squares) as well... and you can even try to double your score by speeding the flow of the green stuff!   Oh, and every once in a while you get a bonus stage where the pipes are already on the board and you get to move them around...

For this month's challenge, you want to go to THIS LINK to play Pipe Dream.  Screencap your best performance (and post it in this thread) by June 30 at 11:59 PM HOL!

-Participation at all will earn you 5 scales.

-If you score 2020 points or higher - or beat the first stage (i.e. make it from "Monday" to "Tuesday"), your screencap will earn you 10 scales instead of 5.

-The top three scores of the month will get extra scales (25, 20, and 15 respectively for the month instead of 5 or 10) as well as special awards!

PS:  Feel free to edit your post throughout the month as you improve your score!
