April 2020 Game Challenge: Paperboy

Recommended Posts

Last month was all about the enjoyable parts of Muggle life.  This month, though, showcases an area where Muggles have traditionally been weak:  in the delivery of mail (instead of owls, they used to rely on Muggle children to spread news)!  Staying in the 1980s, you will have the chance to relive this role in the 1985 Atari game known as Paperboy!

In this game, you are riding a Muggle bicycle down suburban sidewalks and streets, armed with copies of the day's paper.  Your job is to give the subscribers (in white houses) their paper - while punishing non-subscribers (in red houses) by throwing the paper through their windows.  Meanwhile, you need to dodge all sorts of obstacles:  Muggle vehicles, pets, contrivances known as "grates"... and even tornadoes!  Once you finish the day's deliveries, you have the chance to practice your bike riding skills with an obstacle course.  After that, you'll see how you did... most likely you'll get a few "cancelled subscriptions" because you failed to deliver a paper to some subscriber.  Oh well, you can still break their window the next day!

For this month's challenge, you want to go to THIS LINK to play Paperboy.  Screencap your best performance (and post it in this thread) by April 30 at 11:59 PM HOL!

-Participation at all will earn you 5 scales.

-If you score 2020 points or higher - or beat the first stage (i.e. make it from "Monday" to "Tuesday"), your screencap will earn you 10 scales instead of 5.

-The top three scores of the month will get extra scales (25, 20, and 15 respectively for the month instead of 5 or 10) as well as special awards!

PS:  Feel free to edit your post throughout the month as you improve your score!
