January 2020 Game Challenge: Ms. Pac-Man

Recommended Posts

As a new decade begins, it's time to celebrate with another blast from the past... Ms. Pac-Man!

Ms. Pac-Man was one of the best-known games of the golden age of video gaming.  Released in 1982, it features a protagonist who looks like a partially eaten Muggle pizza (but with a bow and beauty mark, identifying her as a woman) trying to race around on a grid to clear the board of dots.  Meanwhile, she is being pursued by various ghosts, all but one of whose names rhyme ("Pinky, Inky, Blinky, and Sue") who would kill her on contact.  But if she touches some of the big dots, she now has the power to eat the ghosts, which is shown by the ghosts changing colour to flashing blue!  Meanwhile, there are also fruits to eat for extra points - and true to the 80s theme, some of the "fruits" listed are emphatically NOT fruits!

If you are a Third Year or above, you likely remember this game from the Emerald Cup of 2018:  "Parzival" managed to get a perfect score in the game which ended up being crucial to him later on... and it was likely the first video game you ran into when racing for the Emerald Keys!

For this month's challenge, you want to go to THIS LINK to play Ms. Pac-Man (there are three variants; any one of them is fine).  Screencap your best performance (and post it in this thread) by January 31 at 11:59 PM HOL!

-Participation at all will earn you 5 scales.

-If you score 2020 points or higher - or beat the first stage, your screencap will earn you 10 scales instead of 5.

-The top three scores of the month will get extra scales (25, 20, and 15 respectively for the month instead of 5 or 10) as well as special awards!

-BONUS:  If you can produce a screencap where the screen shows your character eating some type of human food that is NOT fruit (e.g. a piece of chocolate cake), you can get an additional 5 scales.  This screencap can be separate from your high score screencap if you want.

PS:  Feel free to edit your post throughout the month as you improve your score!
