  1. This sentence of Harry's has always intrigued me. Do you think he continued with his plans to become an Auror, or do you think he would have chosen a different career path? 10 scales if posted by Sunday, 9nd May, 23:59 HOL time. 5 scales if posted after that but before Monday, 31st May, 23:59 HOL time
  2. Do you agree with Harry's plan for the Elder Wand? If you had been in his situation, would you have chosen a different fate for the Death Stick? 10 scales if posted by Sunday, 9nd May, 23:59 HOL time. 5 scales if posted after that but before Monday, 31st May, 23:59 HOL time
  3. Yes, I think it definitely can be. The primary reason you'd want to collect all three is to be a master and to rule, and to devote your life to that, well, there must be a really good reason, at least in your own mind. It becomes an obsession, and not necessarily a very healthy one.
  4. King's Cross definitely sounds to me like a place of travel - does Harry go forwards, or stay there? I also agree that it's a place of transition from the muggle to the magical. I would be in a hallway with doors leading to different rooms and trying to decide which door to choose.

You guys are d
  6. That's a tough one! Moon Sun or moon?
  7. I agree with Emily and think Slytherin as well. Slytherins as a group love to plot strategy and are ambitious, and I definitely agree with cunning being an important part of the game.
  8. April Scales Total: Aurelia West - 146 Daria Summers - 20 February Fortescue - 70 Hannah Lovegood - 146 Harry Walles - 20 Louis Walles - 20 Prof. Scarlet Leslie-Lewis -86 Prof. Sky Alton. - 70 Prof. Tarma Amelia Black - 146 Prof. Will Lestrange - 66
  9. Participate in Read Along! There's only  3 chapters remaining in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

    1. Prof. Will Lestrange

      Prof. Will Lestrange

Not a fan of those chapters, but I fully endorse your statement!

  10. The latest issue of SerpenTimes is open for submissions, and for June's issue, our topic is VERDICT. What does the word verdict mean to you? I think the word can be fairly open ended. I can imagine two friends having a nice chat, and after several minutes, one finally saying, "Ok, what's the verdict? Are we going to the cinema, or not? " In this discussion, please leave out real world politics and real world trials.
  11. Back when I was in college, lots of universities in America had muggle Quidditch teams (no idea who told muggles about Quidditch ). The game looked kind of fun, even though no flying on broomsticks was involved. I rooted for University of Kentucky's Aberforth's Army. Our mascot was a goat's head
  12. I agree: I can sympathize with Harry's feelings, and it's probably best he wasn't given all the information. I'm not sure he would have been able to succeed if he had been told. It would have affected his focus completely and I think he would have become much more reckless. What I found interesting about Dumbledore is that he never gave anyone complete information. He wanted to know everything, and then he alone would make the decisions. Snape was one of the few who complained, or perhaps even noticed. Dumbledore struck me as still being in many ways the boy of his youth, willing to sacr
  13. I think Aurelia makes an excellent point! Plus, Aragog and his decendents were Hagrid's friends, but now Hagrid is chained up at the web, and about to see Harry murdered there. It's an ugly new world.
  14. If you are in my Patronus class, and your homework has not been graded, we haven't received it. Please send it, and all future homework to HOLpatronus@yahoo.com

    Thank you!

  15. How interesting that Voldemort chose Aragog's home to wait for Harry! Why do you think the author chose this location? 10 scales if posted by Sunday, 25th April, 23:59 HOL time. 5 scales if posted after that but before Friday, 30th April, 23:59 HOL time
  16. How did you feel when you first read this passage? Upset with Dumbledore? Sympathy for Harry? Do you believe Harry saw the situation correctly? 10 scales if posted by Sunday, 25th April, 23:59 HOL time. 5 scales if posted after that but before Friday, 30th April, 23:59 HOL time
  17. I remember comparing Snape when he was younger and asked Dumbledore to only protect Lily, but not James and Harry, with the Snape who in later years had no hesitation in agreeing to protect the students of Hogwarts. In earlier books, Snape would meet out harsh punishments and seemed a bully, but now he's sending Neville, Luna, and Ginny to serve their detention with Hagrid in the Forbidden Forest, which was a detention Dumbledore gave to Harry and Draco during their first year, I think. I believe Snape was becoming a little more compassionate and a little less self-centered. That's my guess, a
  18. Rest in Peace, Helen McCrory/Narcissa Malfoy 💚

  19. I agree with Sky's first paragraph completely. I can't even think of anything to add I disagree with her point about loving Lily from afar. While we don't get to see much on page about their childhood or school days, I believe the book suggests they were close for many years. We have a scene where they are relaxing together, Lily feels comfortable enough to ask about how non- magical folks are treated, which she seems worried about, and Snape has shared his problems at home. Later, we hear about her Gryffindor friends being upset because she spends so much time with him, while he has fri
  20. Definitely their appearance, I think, but their venom and personalities are quite different
