June 2024 Game Challenge: Blitz Tetris

For the final game of the year, it's often a tradition to end the year with a form of Tetris or a Tetris like game, and this year is no exception!  The game for this month will be... Blitz Tetris!

We will be going to a site called Tetr.io, which was developed by a company called 'osk' in 2019.  Tetr.io has tonnes of variants of Tetris, such as a multiplayer competitive mode where dozens of players may compete all at once (think like slither.io with the snakes), but this is not the type of game we're going to play.  Instead, we will be playing in "Blitz" mode which consists of competing to score as many points as possible in two minutes!

This version starts you off in Level 1, where pieces move very slowly; completing three lines in Level 1 moves you to Level 2.  With each level the pace goes up faster, the points for lines increases, and the number of lines needed to move to the next level goes up by two points.  If you manage to survive the full two minutes without overflowing the grid, then you will get a score along with an analysis of how you did!

For this month, you want to go to THIS LINK  to play Blitz Tetris.  Screencap proof of your high score by June 30 at 11:59 PM HOL! 

 

-Participation at all will earn you 5 scales.

-If you survive the full two minutes, your screencap will earn you 10 scales instead of 5.

-The top three scores of the month will get extra scales (25, 20, and 15 respectively for the month instead of 5 or 10) as well as special awards!

NOTE: To load the game, click - in sequence - "JOIN", "SOLO", "BLITZ", and finally "START" to start.  Once playing, the left and right arrows move left and right, the up arrow rotates your piece counterclockwise, the down button speeds up the piece's fall, and the space bar drops the piece completely (for some extra points).

and that's the final game of the school year!  We'll need to think of something new for the next year...
