September 2020 Challenge: Puyo Puyo

It's time to begin a new school year, and in the Arcade Club, this means we're back with a new game (another fun puzzle game at that!)  You can think of it as "the opposite of Tetris" - but Tetris lovers will find plenty to love in the early-nineties game known as Puyo Puyo

The version of Puyo Puyo we will be playing was released in 1992 by Sega for arcade use.  In the game, you will be presented with a Tetris-like well where pieces will be falling down and you need to move them.  But unlike in Tetris, where the pieces are different shapes - here, the pieces are all 2-block dominoes.  The challenge comes from the fact that the squares have different colours:  your goal is to join four or more squares of the same colour together while preventing your opponent from doing the same.  Did I forget to mention that part?  Your game wiill be a one-to-one battle against an opponent who gets the same tiles as you... each time you make a chain of four or more squares with the same colour, you will attack your opponent's grid and vice versa; you want to fill your opponent's grid while keeping your own grid free and open in order to win!

For this month's challenge, you want to go to THIS LINK to play Puyo Puyo (at any difficulty level).  Screencap your best performance (and post it in this thread) by September 30 at 11:59 PM HOL!

(WARNING:  The controls are counterintuitive:  the spacebar 'inserts coin', the ENTER key starts the game, A and D move your piece to the left and right respectively, S makes your piece fall faster, and J rotates your piece clockwise.)

-Participation at all will earn you 5 scales.

-If you score 1000 points or higher - or beat the first stage (i.e. defeat any opponent), your screencap will earn you 10 scales instead of 5.

-The top three scores of the month will get extra scales (25, 20, and 15 respectively for the month instead of 5 or 10) as well as special awards!

PS:  Feel free to edit your post throughout the month as you improve your score!
