Image shows a sword in a stone in the woods

From the beginning of time, there have been powerful weapons that have changed hands many times. Are there any weapons that you'll like to get your hands on? How do you feel about inheriting a weapon or taking a weapon from someone you defeated? Is it preferable for you to make your own weapon or should you find a specialist to craft the weapon for you?

I've always loved Sokka's (Avatar: The Last Airbender) meteor sword that he makes himself! Watching him go through all of the effort to make something that suits him so perfectly was incredible. It was such an amazing journey, and I'd like that for myself. Having a cool weapon is one thing, but one you made yourself? That's something to be proud of, and that's what i want! Though it'd be cool to have his sword too :D

I get the feeling that any weapon that has changed hands from person to person isn't going to be the right weapon for me.  Just as wands choose wizards, I feel that the ideal weapon that I would use would be one that was specifically crafted for me.  That way, I know it would respect me and not betray me in the heat of a battle.  Moreover, it could play to my strengths and not those of anyone else.  If I did want to take someone else's weapon it would only be to make sure they couldn't use it - not because it could have any utility for me!

It totally depends on the weapon. Would I turn down Thor's hammer (either one)? No way. Would I turn down the Subtle Knife ... yes. Would I accept the Vorpal Sword? Oh, yes.

Preferably, though, I'd have a weapon crafted just for me. While I'm pretty good at making wands (which are, or can be, considered a weapon), I'd want to get someone like  Brok and/or Buri (who crafted Mjolnir), to create for me a weapon suited to me.

Primarily, I'd need my weapon to be accessible to left-handed people. Being a tiny, not very strong person, I'd need it to be light and small enough to wield effectively. It might be really cool to have it be something I could control with my mind. Then it could do things that I couldn't get it to do physically. I'd also love it to be sleek looking and personalized, so I'd definitely commission someone to make it for me and we'd design it together. I'm thinking sword, but I'm open to other possibilities...

I need a weapon . It should be easy to handle. The weapon should have great powers. It should be controlled by the owner  even if they are far away with just a flick of their wand. It will only work for the worthy(i.e. Romilda Jones). It will have the power no other weapon has nor will. It will stand unique and unbeaten among any other weapons. the looks of it should terrify the people.

It will look like a dagger but has pretty cool and hidden powers in it

If I to choose to use a weapon to fight with I would use my fists, because I love knocking people out. I don't think I need any weapons beyond my fists. Although I could use my body too. Also yes both my hands and body are lethal, well trained weapons. However, if I had to pick another weapon I'd love to have werewolf teeth that can draw blood out of any human that want to mess with me.

Anyone who knows me knows I love pretty weapons. My ideal would be a sword that was as ornamental as it was dangerous, though I also wouldn't mind a longbow or crossbow as they can be very useful in a pinch. It would have to be quite small and light as I am as well. Obviously the Sword of Gryffindor would be adream but I'm not that sold on the colour scheme of silver and red; one of the dragon rider's swords from the Inheritance cycle would suit me down to the ground though as colours and gemstones are incredibly important to me.

I don't think I'd mind inheriting or winning a weapon from an opponent or picking one up in the course of a quest; I like that weapons have their own stories that exist beyond the current wielder. At the same time, having one crafted for me so it properly reflected my personality and fighting style would be wonderful too. I'm good with my hands so I'd certainly have a bash at building my own weapon, I'm just circumspect about how it would turn out :P

This is a good point! I don't know if I'd use the weapon i inherited or won though. I think I would probably keep it in some kind of study or other place for displaying it. I would want to be able to remember where it came from, but it would be too special to use. So they'd be more like trophies or souvenirs.

I would want a weapon that was pretty. I'm not completely sure of what kind of weapon this would be, but I'm thinking something that LOOKS like a trident. It would have a jewel-encrusted handle. The three spears could be used for spearing people, and they would be filled with poison. One sharp twist of the handle would reveal a sword. At the same time this weapon couldn't be huge, as I am tiny. So, I would like a double weapon with a jewel-encrusted handle. I'm not picky, but I think it would probably have been made just for me.

I don't know if I'd be worthy enough to hold it, but I'd love to see Excalibur with my own eyes. (Speaking of worthiness, Thor's hammer Mjölnir must be awesome.) There's so much history and legend surrounding Excalibur that it'll be a great experience to be in its presence. Another sword that I think is interesting is the Sword of the Enchanted Forest, since only Kings of the Enchanted Forest can use it.

For myself, though, I'd probably go smaller. Swords are powerful weapons, but sometimes difficult to handle. Lila Bard from the Shades of Magic trilogy has the right idea with knives. Ninja stars would also be pretty fun... It would be nice to make my own weapons, so I know the true balance of the item. I'm sure that if I really wanted to, I could learn how to make weapons, but I'd rather leave it up to the masters to minimize mistakes.

For stealth purposes, I wonder if it would be a good idea to have a weapon that looks like something innocuous or even takes such a form.  For example, a weapon might be disguised as a standard (potentially Muggle) household item such as a pen.  Looking for examples, Mjölnir (Thor's weapon) is often disguised as a walking stick - and can even be picked up by mere mortals in that form.  Another Muggle example is known as an "umbrella gun".  This is - well - a gun (a Muggle fighting stick) that can also take the form of an umbrella (a Muggle tool to block rain)!  I feel that sort of disguise could definitely give me the element of surprise!
