The Slytherin Dungeons

Decorating the Dungeons (all welcome) (RP)

Recommended Posts

Max staggered into the common room and unceremoniously dumped the pile of sparkly things he'd piled high in his arms. He was pleased that at least half of it had reached his intended destination and would deal later with the trail of tinsel and abandoned baubles that snaked through the Dungeons. Of course he could have applied some sort of charm to make the decorations float along, of all stick together during their transit, but where was the fun in that?

Max had been meaning to decorate the Dungeons since the start of December but he had to give priority to his school work. Well, now that was finished and he was free to add a bit of glitter and sparkle in green and silver to the otherwise rather gloomy common room. The Christmas tree was already filing up nicely with baubles designed by the students playing 'snakes and tinsel' but that just wasn't enough for a proper Christmas celebration. The decorations he'd managed to gather together had been used for many years and although it would be nice to add some new ones again this year, Max thought traditions were important.

All Max needed now were some willing volunteers and some inspiration for the best places to put everything.

Arianna put down her quill, finally finished with the last of her homework. One more final, Death Eaters 101, stood between her and Christmas. But for now, time for a break! I think I'll go see if there are snacks in the kitchen. Arianna headed to through the common room when she noticed Max with a pile of Christmas. "Max, are you decorating? I wondered when we were going to do that! I'll help! I would love to help hang wreathes and ivy by the windows; the glow the windows cast from the lake make the greenery seem even more lively! I'll let someone else do the fireplace though; somehow my robes always seem to catch on fire...." Arianna grabbed handfuls of silvery garland and started wrapping them around the wreathes. "This is going to be the best looking common room ever!"

February was relaxing in the Common Room, continuing to procrastinate at not working on homework and thrilled to spot the Head Boy and Prefect, Max, his arms full of decorations, struggling to carry them into the room. She noticed Arianna, with her usually cheerful way, jumping up and offering to help. She really liked Max and Arianna, and was thrilled at the chance to find another activity to keep her away from homework. She could assist Max and the others, and help make the Common Room look festive for the Slythmas Season :D.

*Hey! tinsel! Let's leave some tinsel dangling near the windows so all these cats can have something to bat at!* February thinks to herself, hanging tinsel from the windows. *I wonder if tinsel attracts squid?*

Scarlet walked into the Dungeons mumbling about students when she noticed something shiny out of the corner of her eye. She turned around and saw a gigantic pile of Christmas decorations! There's no better way to get into the holiday spirit than by helping decorate the common room.

Scarlet gave Max a quick nod and smiled as she combed through the decorations the Head Boy had dug out of storage. The sparkly silver snowflakes were definitely her favorite. She surveyed the area and the interior designer inside her searched for the best place to hang the snowflakes.

Aly had slept in so she rolled out of bed sleepy eyed and walked into the common room. Half awake, all she spotted is what seemed to be a few people hanging up shiny silver snakes? As she started to wake up more she realized that it was tinsel not silver snakes and muttered about how much cooler that would have been.

She decided to join in on the decorating fun and walked over to the humongous pile of various Christmas decorations. She greeted everyone with a Slythmas pun, "What do you get when you eat the Slythmas decorations? Tinsel-itus!" As she laughed a bit to herself, she decided to pick up some of the pieces of silver tinsel and wandered off a bit to decorate the other side of the common room. She decided to spice it up by transfiguring a few pieces of silver tinsel into the silver snakes she originally thought they were.

This should be fun! She thought to herself as she watched them slither away into the crevices around the common room. Someone will come across one eventually...

Tarma struggled in, half carrying half dragging a wooden box filled with some unpolished, unfinished green rocks.

Giving a general sort of wave to everyone, she didn't venture very far into the Dungeon common room (even though the news was that everyone could join in), and she shoved the box into a handy little semi-sheltered semi-hidden area. Wow that was heavy ... she thought as she looked around for a water fountain or something to drink. Glancing at the box - filled with a 'present' for everyone who might like green sparkly rocks - she left it, secure in the knowledge that it was where it needed to be. She smelled coffee ... and tracked down that enticing scent.

February was soon wrapped up in tinsel, enjoying herself as much as the cats she was entertaining. She had to remind herself to ignore her occasionally emerging daffy (and blunt!) Luna side and remember she needed to go do her homework! The Hermione side was beginning to return and she spotted the HoH joining in, and she noticed Ally was taking over the tinsel. Everyone seemed to have the decorating well in hand, so she thought she could slip away and not be noticed. OH! Look - Professor Tarma is sneaking in! This is great! She's left the Sett to come and visit us during this wonderful season of light, and brought some goodwill with her :D *It's so wonderful how we all can ignore any potential House rivalries this time of year and simply enjoy each other's company,* February thought to herself.

Blade's dog Ariel walked over to the tinsel and sniffed at them, then she went over to February's cat and started to play with it.

Blade of course was in his room at his desk trying to work hard on his homework. He did not have time for merriment this year not if he wanted to pass this year and not have his father or Professor Snape mad at him again.
