  1. Find out a little more about any member on the Black family tree and tell us what you’ve discovered! OR Share your family tapestry! You may do this through a drawing/graphic or written description (or both!). Be sure to mention any unique tidbits about your tapestry. 10 scales if posted by Sunday 14th October, 23:59 HOL time. 5 scales if posted after that but before Wednesday 31st October, 23:59 HOL time.
  2. In this chapter, we see the Weasley twins fill their pockets with Doxies so they can experiment with doxy venom later and George also takes the snuffbox containing Wartcap powder. Do you think either of these substances make it into their products? What is another material that the twins might have collected while decontaminating the house? 10 scales if posted by Sunday 14th October, 23:59 HOL time. 5 scales if posted after that but before Wednesday 31st October, 23:59 HOL time.

    The Portkey - Task 2

We’re getting into the heart of autumn, so go outside and take a walk! Enjoy the gorgeous fall foliage. See if you are able to locate any potential Portkeys during your stroll. Take a picture or describe the Portkey. Also, just for fun, take a guess as to where the Portkey might transport someone to or who the Portkey is for. 10 scales if posted by Sunday 22nd October, 23:59 HOL time. 5 scales if posted after that but before Tuesday 31st October, 23:59 HOL time.

    The Portkey - Task 1

It’s almost time for the Quidditch World Cup! How would you get there? What would you wear? Would you get there a few weeks early to soak in as much of the World Cup experience as possible? Or maybe you’re only going for the Quidditch because you prefer avoiding too much interaction with others. Whatever the case, share your journey to the Quidditch World Cup. 10 scales if posted by Sunday 22nd October, 23:59 HOL time. 5 scales if posted after that but before Tuesday 31st October, 23:59 HOL time.

Talons and Tea Leaves - Task 2

In Hagrid's first lesson he wants a volunteer to approach the Hippogriff first, though no one seems too keen on heading towards the fierce looking agitated creatures. Harry volunteers, but if he'd not been in the class would you have been the first volunteer or would you have been hiding in the back with the rest of the class? Why do you think you'd have reacted in this way? Answer in at least 50 words in this thread to get your scales. 10 scales if posted by Sunday 9th October, 23:59 HOL time. 5 scales if posted after that but before Monday 31st October, 23:59 HOL time.

Talons and Tea Leaves - Task 1

If you were in the class whose tea leaves would you read (can be from HOL, the books or your real life)? Tell us what you see and what the textbook tells you it means? You can accompany your answer with an image of the bottom of the tea cup if you wish but that's not compulsory. Post your answers in this thread to earn your scales. 10 scales if posted by Sunday 9th October, 23:59 HOL time. 5 scales if posted after that but before Monday 31st October, 23:59 HOL time.

    Gilderoy Lockhart - Task 1

So much happens in this chapter but as its title suggests, it's all about Lockhart and I just couldn't resist making him the focus of both tasks - it's what he would have wanted (and expected!) We have already met the titles of many of Lockharts books which make up a large portion of the school reading list for the year. Make up the title of another book Lockhart could have written and give a brief description of what we will find inside the covers to earn yourself 10 scales. For 10 bonus scales design the cover of your book and post it along side your blurb. Deadline 23:59 HOL time, 30th April. Task based on suggestions made by Prof. Scarlet Leslie-Lewis and Arianna Stonewater. Thanks guys!

    Gilderoy Lockhart - Task 2

Lockhart starts his first lesson of the year with a short 30 minute quiz to see how much the students have taken in while reading their textbooks. A mere 54 questions long it contains such wonderful questions as: 1. What is Gilderoy Lockhart’s favorite color? 2. What is Gilderoy Lockhart’s secret ambition? 3. What, in your opinion, is Gilderoy Lockhart’s greatest achievement to date? 54. When is Gilderoy Lockhart’s birthday, and what would his ideal gift be? Unfortunately we don't get to learn what all the questions in the middle are so this is where you come in. Tell us two of the questions on the quiz and of course their corresponding answers. 5 scales per questions and answer combo. If you only give questions you'll get a maximum of 5 scales so get reading those textbooks XD Deadline 23:59 HOL time, 30th April Task idea courtesy of February Fortescue.
